PAIR OF CONTINENTAL BRONZE BUSTS
19TH CENTURY, PROBABLY FRENCH
A pair of 19th century bronze busts of classical beauties or goddesses. Each modeled with a partial torso and plinth base, mounted on variegated green stone bases.
9 in. (23 cm.) tall
This pair of delicately modeled bronze busts exemplifies the 19th century French tradition of homage to classical themes through small-scale bronze sculpture. Two beauties or classical figures are depicted from the torso up, mounted on bronze plinths which are in turn mounted on variegated green stone bases. Each bronze is richly patinated in gold-straw tones.
